On Tuesday after my exciting tasting of Cattier Saphir Champagne I was treated to something else special. On the shelf of the restaurant Jun Ming Xuan, behind a couple of bottles was a quarter bottle of something unexpected.
On Tuesday Night I was lucky enough to try something I might otherwise have never tried. I went to one of my local Chinese restaurants Jun Ming Xuan with a couple of friends. One of them had just bought a bottle of Cattier Saphire Champagne and we popped it in an ice bucket to cool.
I’ve talked about this whiskey a lot and finally I’ve got round to doing a tasting. This I must say has to be one of my favorite whiskeys. It’s one I recommend if anyone is looking for a special gift or just something to display on the bar. Sorry not too many images on this one. I did the tasting in my PJ’s in front of the TV.
A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to take a short break to the United Arab Emirates. On the plane ride from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi they were serving Lanson Black Label as their “House” Champagne. So having more than a couple of hours to spare I thought I’d do a tasting.
No one can deny that this bottle of vodka looks stunning. Each bottle is made by hand with a hand made crystal glass dragon inside which makes it very difficult to photograph. Suspended in the vodka is 23 carrot gold leaf that certainly looks impressive. The actual vodka is made in Russia and uses winter harvested rye. This is believed to provide a much cleaner and crisper vodka without the oiliness associated with some less premium vodkas.
