Something a little different to my usual posts. In August 2017 I was in india for a short break and popped to my local food store to pick up some juice. I was horrified when I got home and tried what I thought was a relatively healthy natural orange juice. Coming from the UK where orange juice actually tastes like oranges I thought perhaps the varieties of oranges are different in India and a lot sweeter than Californian or spanish oranges. However upon reading the small print on the back of the carton my suspicions were confirmed. This juice has … Continue reading THE SECRET KILLER IN YOUR FRIDGE!
There are many super premium vodkas out there all claiming to be the the best craft vodka or the most premium. What really makes a vodka craft or super premium? Today I will be trying the new Absolut Elyx to find out. We all know the brand Absolut and have for many years associated it with good high quality mixing vodka but never really put it into the super premium category. Absolut is trying to change that with a new super premium variant Absolut Elyx. Johan Lindeberg the Global Creative Director for Absolut has been quoted as saying, “It’s no longer about … Continue reading Absolut Elyx
A whisky brought to you by David Beckham and Simon Fuller working along side Diageo present Haig Club. Although I don’t quite know how that works since David Beckham doesn’t actually drink. Well putting that to one side for the moment, Haig Club is a sweet single grain Scotch whisky that comes from Camorenbridge Distillery the oldest grain distillery in Scotland. This whisky is certainly different, not only because of its unique taste but because of its main market.
On Tuesday 3rd June I was lucky enough to be able to attend the London Wine Fair at the Kensington Olympia. I thought I would take this opportunity to tell you about some exciting things to look forward to during the coming months, based on the trends I picked up on whilst there.
I’d like to say that this is how all wine is made but there is so many different ways to make wine it would take up a whole encyclopaedia. So the method I have listed below is one of the most simplest ways that wine is made. For a nice fresh grape wine you need to start with, yes you got it, grapes. It is very important to pick the right grapes as this will determine how your wine will taste. The grapes are then crushed into juice. Typicly first press of grape juice will make the most premium wines … Continue reading How is Wine Made
I am excited to say that tomorrow I will be at the London Wine fair at the Olympia. Last year there was a turn out of over 10,000 people with wines from every corner of the globe. This year is no exception with visitor estimates expected to exceed last years figures. Keep an eye for my updates.
New Amsterdam Vodka, not actually from Amsterdam but from New York. “What?” I hear you all cry. Yes its true. The name New Amsterdam Vodka comes from the big american city New York which was known as New Amsterdam before being renamed New York. Now that we have all that complicatedness out of the way lets get down to business.
On Tuesday after my exciting tasting of Cattier Saphir Champagne I was treated to something else special. On the shelf of the restaurant Jun Ming Xuan, behind a couple of bottles was a quarter bottle of something unexpected.
On Tuesday Night I was lucky enough to try something I might otherwise have never tried. I went to one of my local Chinese restaurants Jun Ming Xuan with a couple of friends. One of them had just bought a bottle of Cattier Saphire Champagne and we popped it in an ice bucket to cool.
I’ve talked about this whiskey a lot and finally I’ve got round to doing a tasting. This I must say has to be one of my favorite whiskeys. It’s one I recommend if anyone is looking for a special gift or just something to display on the bar. Sorry not too many images on this one. I did the tasting in my PJ’s in front of the TV.
